BACKGROUND FIELDS — a third layer, 1 Oct 2026
=============================================
Drawn in code (scripts/make-fields.cjs), not generated. Reproducible,
tiny, and they tint from a token like everything else.

WHY THESE EXIST
props.md defines two layers and neither covers a section background:
props = the content itself (Tabler + Phosphor objects)
accents = marks AROUND content (Handcrafts doodles, our sparkle),
explicitly capped at "icon-to-inline size, not hero scale"
Fields are the layer behind content. Nothing else fills that role.

THE SIX
shelf-wall.svg 240x180, tiles both axes. Shelf density is the retail
wedge's visual signature per doc 07. Busiest of the set.
bag-fold.svg 300x120, single shape. The paper-bag fold, our own logo
motif. Anchor to a full-bleed top edge, do not tile.
awning.svg 240x40, tiles HORIZONTALLY only. Shopfront awning edge.
Tiled vertically it turns into fish-scale - don't.
shutter.svg 240x200, tiles horizontally, full height. The rolling
shutter every Indian shopfront has. Strongly vertical,
so keep copy clear of it.
tile-grid.svg 160x160, tiles both axes. Floor tiles. Quietest of the
set and the only one safe directly beneath body copy.
counter-line.svg 360x44, single shape. A counter with the companion's own
ground shadow under it - ry 9 at 0.13 opacity, the exact
numbers from cast.md rule 3, so a figure placed on it
                    belongs to the same room.

USING THEM
All ship in currentColor. Tint from a token; do not hardcode a hex.
Working opacity is 0.06-0.14. Above that they compete with the copy.
doc 07 requires text to sit on a ground-toned scrim, never on busy
texture - so either drop the opacity or keep the busy part away from
the words. shelf-wall and shutter are the two that will fight copy.

Every element crossing a tile edge is drawn again on the opposite edge.
That is what makes the repeat seamless; the first pass did not do it and
the seam showed as a row of half-cut boxes.

NOT A SUBSTITUTE
These are quiet structure, not illustration. A section still needs its
wedge hero or its companion - a field alone is wallpaper.
